Hospital Hygiene Trial
An exclusive range of Timbmet Silverman mouldings treated with BioCote antimicrobial technology is being trialled by a Birmingham Hospital Trust in its continuing fight against super-bugs, such as MRSA.
Skirting and doorframes from Timbmet Silverman have been used by BioCote and the Department of Research and Development at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust to create a clinical environment that benefits from many antimicrobial products.
BioCote technology has been used to impregnate standard hospital equipment with silver ions at the point of manufacture. The silver ions remain on the surface of the equipment, inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria such as MRSA, C diff and Salmonella for the life of the product.
The majority of the equipment in the research outpatient facility has been manufactured incorporating the silver technology, including cubicle curtains, beds, taps, tiling and even the medical notes.
Timbmet Silverman supplies the BioCote treatment on a wide range of Oak, Red Hardwood and Western Red Cedar moulded profiles from stock, which are ideal for a range of public environments like the Healthcare and Catering industries. In addition, the company has facilities to machine and treat bespoke mouldings offering the same hygiene benefits.
